Late Harvest
Over the past ten years we have typically made a Riesling ‘Selection’ and occasionally we make a Gewurztraminer ‘Bunch Selection’. The term ‘Selection’ takes over as a designation from the ‘Late Harvest’ wines of the past. We feel this term encompasses what we are trying to achieve-as a departure from the normal harvest-rather than as an absolute designation based around a picking date. Information on the Riesling ‘Selection’ is contained in the Riesling section. The ‘Bunch Selection’ wines tend to be botrytis affected so along with concentrated varietal notes, they also contain honey/ marmalade characters and a high level of residual sugar. Of our white wines these bottlings tend to be the longest lived in the cellar.
