This is a variety whose cropping level always suffers in cool and/or windy years. In 1997 the yield was 1200L/Ha (0.75 T/acre). The grapes were picked at 25 brix and after fermentation yielded a lightly golden wine with hints of green and showing considerable fruit concentration. The bouquet is of roses, rich exotic fruit, orange peel and a touch of spice. The palate has a lush, silky texture with intense flavours of very ripe pears and other rich fruit, interwoven with the taste of lychees and a touch of cloves. Opulent. Drink this wine cool, as an aperitif. Under good conditions, cellaring is up to 5 years.
